Master of Educational Technology (MET)
Welcome
ETEC 590 Graduating Project
My work in this e-portfolio describes my educational journey from 2020 to 2024. The cultural challenges I have faced are broad and deep. Therefore, I wrote this supposed poetry, hoping it would help my intentions and purpose, considering the metaphor "A rolling stone gathers no moss."
The Drums
I search for a point of convergence
A master connector
Beyond the perceived differences
A hub of similarities
An association
Subjective and Sublime
Preserving Cultures
Merging Movements
From Individual and Collective
Physical and Spiritual
Secular and Sacred
The Drums symbolize this movement
From starting and pacing battles from
Calling back home
To wake up
To act
To let it go and Remembering
that after the Truth
comes Reconciliation
Keep up your plans,
Don't forget your Planet and People
The time flies and also drags
Always check and align your purpose
Move forward, redefining limits and surprising your traps
Some self-sabotage and other suffering often inflicted by yourself
Let us then remain with the new mistakes
Inevitable suffering
And once Lost
Follow the Drums.
Instructions for Use
Perception
In the quote, the eyes are the window to the soul, an interpretation that guides us to introspective reflection. From the concrete point of view, other parts of a human being can also connect external manifestations with internal feelings. For instance, the mouth allows people to express their inner thoughts, emotions, and souls outwardly. The heart is often associated with deep emotions and relationships as the gateway to a person's true self and inner world. The ears are essential to receive feedback and comprehend the environment. Additionally, someone could argue that the mind is the door to the soul, as it processes thoughts, memories, and experiences that shape one's identity and spirit. Finally, actions and expressions can translate values and character; observing how people behave, their choices, and how they interact with the world and others can reveal the depths of their character and spirit. Therefore, we can say that eyes, mouth, heart, ears, mind, actions, and expressions together help to perceive, analyze, and understand the complexity and subjectivity of the human soul.
Evolution
Technology and various sources of knowledge have expanded the methods of acquiring expertise and education, requiring new access and evaluation tools in the educational process, focusing on engagement and continuous improvement. Therefore, evaluating the academic level and work capacity is as complex and subjective as considering the human soul. The portfolio supports an integrative framework that allows students to demonstrate deep learning (Railean et al., 2015), such as diverse capabilities, expertise, and experiences. Beyond a showcase, an eportfolio enables acquiring knowledge and educational development for those who prepare, evaluate, or participate as a target audience.
Just as the eyes reveal the human soul, the design and flow of the ePortfolio reveal the author's goals and characteristics. If the heart expresses internal feelings, the projects developed in the eportofolio demonstrate causes and values advocated by the author. If the ears allow feedback with patience and understanding, the eportfolio has areas for interaction, feedback, and rubrics for collaboration, evaluation, and improvements. When the mind processes and shapes thoughts and memories, the eportofolio allows this process to be carried out collectively and collaboratively, even asynchronously. And finally, the expressions and actions demonstrate positioning and internal choices. The eportofolio exemplifies, inspires, models, and supports ecosystem development and learning.
Art
Each page features a beautiful image and a snippet of song lyrics, properly referenced, to convey emotions and concerns beyond the author's words.
All images belong to the Artist Kevin L. Pee-ace. Kevin was born in Kelvington, Saskatchewan, and is a member of the Yellowquill First Nation and Peter Chapman First Nation. Kevin was exposed to art at an early age. He went on to complete a Fine Arts Studio diploma program from UCFV—Abbotsford, British Columbia. During the mid-nineties, he explored various programs in Art History, Archaeology, Anthropology, and Native Studies at Capilano College in North Vancouver.

Remember Me (Song by Fawn Wood that is a Cree and Salish musician from St. Paul, Alberta, Canada)
“Remember me (remember me)
When the sun comes up in the morning sky
There I will be (there I will be)
Soaring with the eagle so high, feeling free
Remember me
Down the road
Hand in hand
You and me”
EVERY CHILD MATTERS
Smart Goals
Goal 1: Promoting the EDIDA framework in the Healthcare setting.
By the end of August 2024, I will promote the EDIDA (2023) framework (Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Decolonization, and Anti-Racism) in all health-related educational activities starting from August 2024. I will use my acquired knowledge and educational technology tools such as Zoom, WIX, Google site, YouTube, podcasts, and videocasts to showcase examples and stimulate discussions about cultural differences, emphasizing the importance of accepting and including them. These tools are essential for creating physical and digital environments supporting this goal. You use my speaking space to publicize the need to follow and respect this structure in regional and international actions. This goal promotes awareness about disparities and the necessity of revaluation and discussion between experts and health educators.
Goal 2: Spreading Risk and Harm Reduction and Lifestyle Medicine Guidelines.
Scientific and administrative support of educational activities, direct to patients and healthcare professionals through INTES (Institute of Innovation and Education in Health) in Brazil and AIRAS (International Alliance to Reduce Health Disorders) connecting with knowledge acquired in the MET course from research methodology, open education, supported learning technology, ventures in learning technology and Culture. Create a database of initiatives, challenges, failures, solutions, and results of implementing these measures in different communities and countries. Compare and adapt initiatives within an environment that allows cultural exchange and technology. This objective promotes the training and dissemination of pragmatic changes in posture and attitude on issues such as food, physical activity, mental aspects, illnesses, energy consumption, violence, and climate change, enabling a broad vision from individual to ecological elements.
Goal 3: Empower Communication About Healthcare through Education in an EDIDA framework.
Provide digital and in-person activities, such as meetings, workshops, lectures, advocacy, and holistic support, minimizing cultural barriers, harm, and prejudice based on the EDIDA framework to help patients and people connect with legislators and governments, providing equity regarding Culture, Energy, Arts, and all the disciplines in the MET course. Let's give voice to people and needs and build reports to orientate further norms and investments. I have coordinated a pilot project about this initiative with Breast Cancer survivors and other patients, connecting with the Public Healthcare system and the Brazilian government. This objective puts into practice all the previous challenges, allowing space for speaking and listening between the fragile and powerful. It understands that it is up to those in charge to connect with people in need and shape communication channels, structures, and a reality to preserve the Planet and our existence.
